With this prequel we learn how our snarky heroine, Morgan Bailey, gets started in the vampire/demon/nasty mythical beasty hunting occupation. Here for the first time are introduced Kabita, Inigo, Clare, and mom. I have really enjoyed the entire series as Macleod has endowed Morgan with sarcastic wit and a kick-ass attitude. No damsels in distress here. If you're new to the series and perhaps thinking it's a thin excuse for a... adult novel, set in a fantasy world, it's not. It's a fun world where "vampires are not boyfriend material". Some of the books have a lusty scene, for those who like that, but Macleod is not writing about a nun's story. I'm not in Macleod's target audience and if I like her writing then fans of the genre should. This book is actually not a novel but a novella and a bonus short story. Regardless, the writing is great, funny, and the price is right, especially if you have Kindle Unlimited.Product details

I read the whole series. Great summer reading!
I loved the books from begin to end.
Loved reading how it all began and getting to know the characters from the beginning. If you haven't read the series I highly recommend it.
Thought I was getting a regular Sunwalker story, not a poorly edited novella " prequel" about how Morgan started and a weak short story. Not up to the the series standard.
It's a good thing this wasn't the start of the Sunwalker series. Not a bad story, but Morgan comes across as spoiled and whiny. It is very annoying. It was nice to know more about her history and how she met some of the other characters, but I'm glad to be moving on to the next book.
This was definitely a change it was good but slow and short. I don't like when series jump back after moving so far forward. I did like to kind of see her start out. Liked to see her and indigo meeting and her and Kabaita sorry for the bad spelling.
